About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant Radiation Oncologist to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team at Waikato Hospital. This permanent, full-time position, which requires 50 hours per week, presents an exceptional opportunity for professional growth and the chance to influence innovative medical practices in radiation oncology. If you are passionate about patient care, research, and education, we encourage you to apply and become part of our prestigious institution dedicated to excellence.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Radiation Oncology department at Waikato Hospital provides a comprehensive range of services, utilizing advanced technologies to deliver state-of-the-art radiation treatments. Equipped with the Eclipse planning system and four linear accelerators, we offer rotational IMRT and cone beam CT image guidance. Our cutting-edge technology includes TrueBeam, HyperArc, and Halcyon systems, alongside specialized kilovoltage equipment for skin cancers.
We are recognized leaders in HDR brachytherapy, actively treating gynaecological and prostate malignancies, and we also excel in stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR) for lung cancer and lung metastases. Our established SABR protocols cover spine, kidney, and prostate treatments, and there are opportunities for the successful candidate to optimize protocols or develop new techniques. Furthermore, we are the national provider of total skin electron therapy for skin lymphomas.
At Waikato Hospital, you will collaborate with a team of eight medical oncologists, nine haematologists, ten radiation oncologists, and five palliative care physicians, serving a regional population of approximately 750,000. Radiation therapy services are provided at Waikato Hospital, outpatient clinics in Hamilton, and three secondary hospitals: Thames Hospital, Rotorua Hospital, and Gisborne Hospital.
About You

We value competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to embarking on this learning journey. Experience in upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and applying Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare settings is essential.
