About the Role
We are currently seeking casual Support Workers to fill in for permanent staff on leave in Christchurch. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience across various services, including community mobile, respite, residential, and recovery support.
As a casual worker, your hours will not be regular and will be offered based on availability. If you are looking for a flexible role, we would love to hear from you. Our shifts operate seven days a week, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. We particularly seek candidates who are available for PM shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM and awake night shifts from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
This role involves a variety of tasks, including:
- Setting goals and building confidence
- Assisting individuals in securing employment or housing
- Supporting budgeting and independent daily living skills
- Attending appointments and advocating for individuals
- Helping individuals connect with their communities
- Providing medication support when required
- Supporting whai ora in their daily routines
- Maintaining the household environment
- Assisting individuals in managing distress
- Performing various tasks as needed, including cleaning, cooking, gardening, and daily living assistance
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Availability to work all shifts (AM, PM, and awake nights) as required, any day of the week across all services
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand
- Preferred possession of the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or an equivalent qualification. For equivalency information, please visit the official website.
- Willingness to complete a comprehensive first aid certificate
- A full driver's license
- Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti Waitangi
