We focus on enabling good lives for all through self-determination, early intervention, and person-centered support. About the Role We are currently seeking a part-time Support Worker in Taupo. In this role, you will provide support to rangatahi and tamariki, as well as their families, fostering their self-determination and empowering them to lead valued lives on their own terms. The initial hours for this position will range from 5 to 10 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours over time. As a Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the family's journey toward a valued life of their choosing. You will engage with them in a hands-on capacity and collaborate closely with them to achieve their goals. Your tasks will include a variety of activities such as grocery shopping, meal planning, preparation and cooking, laundry, light cleaning, and providing overall household support. The aim of your assistance is to help them actively participate in daily living, both at home and in the community. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Create a supportive environment for the family, focusing on their aspirations and independence. - Support tamariki or rangatahi in accessing education and attending school. - Observe and respond to health concerns, promoting the overall health and wellbeing of the young person. - Assist rangatahi and young people in working toward and achieving their goals. - Tailor supports to meet the unique needs and goals of the family, taking a holistic approach to their wellbeing. - Provide simple, flexible supports that the family can easily utilize to enhance their daily lives. Requirements We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping others, demonstrating kindness and understanding. You should have a desire to support our rangatahi and young people in learning new skills and achieving positive outcomes. Previous experience with young people or rangatahi is preferred. A full driver's license and access to your own vehicle are essential for this role. We value initiative and seek energetic, outgoing individuals who can think creatively. Respect for others’ beliefs and lifestyles, particularly given the diverse backgrounds of those we support, is crucial. Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness are important qualities for this position, as the individuals we serve have varied needs and interests. Benefits We offer competitive pay rates ranging from $23.50 to $29.10 per hour. Additionally, you will earn while you learn with free training towards NZQA Health and Wellbeing qualifications.
