    Description

About the Company At Trade Me, we are dedicated to connecting New Zealanders to help them create the lives they envision. Whether it involves significant aspects like finding a home, job, or car, or smaller tasks such as locating the perfect bedside table or selling used items, our goal is to be the first place Kiwis turn to for their needs. We strive to build experiences that genuinely matter to our customers. About the Role As a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative products and enhancements that serve millions of customers. This position offers the opportunity to work across the entire technology stack, take ownership of technical outcomes, and drive innovation in a platform that is integrated into the daily lives of New Zealanders. In this role, you can expect to: - Design and implement end-to-end technical solutions that enhance our customer experience and achieve squad objectives. - Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, sharing your knowledge to elevate our team’s capabilities and best practices. - Drive innovation by researching new technologies and leading initiatives to improve our codebase and technical design. - Take ownership of projects within your squad, from initial design and planning to building, testing, releasing, and monitoring your code in production. - Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to identify and address challenges in our processes, ensuring both quality and speed. - Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by actively seeking opportunities to make our web experience faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain. - Document your work clearly to enable others to easily maintain and build upon the solutions you create. Requirements To be successful in this role, you will bring: - Senior level experience in fullstack development, with strong proficiency in C# (.NET) and front-end technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and/or Angular. - A deep understanding of relational databases and SQL, ideally with Microsoft SQL Server, along with excellent knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and SOLID principles. - A proven track record of technical ownership and accountability for significant projects. - A natural ability to mentor and a genuine desire to support your teammates in their growth and success. - A highly organized and self-directed approach, paired with a proactive mindset to tackle challenges in a fast-paced environment. - A keen eye for detail and a commitment to crafting elegant, testable code that stands the test of time. - Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, allowing you to act as a trusted advisor to your squad and stakeholders. Benefits At Trade Me, we believe in providing a supportive and enriching work environment. Here are some of the benefits we offer: - Flexibility: We understand that flexibility means different things to different people. We support you in finding what works best for you, including a home office setup and utilities allowance. We value team connection and come together in person on Mondays and at least one additional day each week. - Wellness: We prioritize your physical and mental wellbeing, offering various resources to support you. - Leave: We provide leave options to support your needs, including five days of wellness leave each year and ten days of sick leave starting from day one. - Social: We enjoy coming together to celebrate our successes. Join us in the office on payday for company-paid lunches, regular Friday gatherings for drinks and snacks, and annual Trade Me company awards. - Learning: Your growth is important to us. We offer on-the-job training, formal training, mentoring, and other opportunities for continuous learning from day one. We understand that some candidates may hesitate to apply if they feel they do not meet all the criteria. If you are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to send us your resume along with a brief cover letter outlining your motivation for applying. Trade Me is an INZ accredited employer. We truly value diversity and embrace a flexible workplace that encourages everyone to achieve their potential.
