About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Motors team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing innovative products and enhancements for our millions of customers. You will have the opportunity to work across the entire technology stack, take ownership of technical outcomes, and drive innovation in a platform integral to everyday life in New Zealand.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Identifying and addressing challenges within our processes and practices.
- Exploring opportunities to implement new, innovative technologies to address business problems.
- Designing, estimating, and planning the work required by your squad.
- Writing code and unit tests to meet your squad's objectives.
- Taking technical ownership and accountability for projects within your squad.
- Conducting peer reviews of code authored by other developers.
- Building, testing, releasing, and monitoring code deployed to the production environment.
- Documenting your work to facilitate maintenance and further development by others.
- Participating in discussions and initiatives aimed at enhancing the Trade Me code base and technical design.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
- Senior-level experience in full stack development with strong proficiency in C# (.NET) as well as front-end technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and/or Angular.
- A deep understanding of relational databases and SQL, preferably Microsoft SQL Server, along with excellent knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and SOLID principles.
- A proven track record of taking technical ownership and accountability for significant projects.
- A natural talent for mentorship and a genuine desire to support your colleagues' growth and success.
- A highly organized and self-directed approach, complemented by a proactive mindset to address challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing elegant, testable code that endures over time.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to be a trusted advisor to your squad and stakeholders.
