About the Role We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our National Operations and Strategy team in Christchurch. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in a diverse range of impactful and technically challenging projects. As a Design Engineer, you will deliver innovative structural engineering solutions while overseeing projects from concept through to completion. Your contributions will be vital in providing technical expertise, driving business excellence, and consistently exceeding client expectations. Working within a Tier 1 Contractor, you will develop designs that are focused on buildability and practicality. Our site teams will offer invaluable feedback on the solutions you create, allowing you to refine your skills further. Key Responsibilities - Develop and deliver structural engineering designs and solutions for various projects, including both permanent and temporary works for bridges, civil structures, and commercial and industrial buildings, utilizing reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry. - Provide technical supervision during construction to ensure that designs are implemented accurately and safely, minimizing rework and risk. - Engage with clients and stakeholders to build strong relationships and identify opportunities for business development. - Prepare detailed documentation, including design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. - Promote a culture of Zero Harm, safety, and sustainability in all work practices. Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: - A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent). - Proven experience in structural engineering design and project management. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - A solid commercial understanding and acumen. - Strong knowledge of New Zealand design codes. - Proficiency in using AutoCAD or similar software.
