About the Company:
At Addington Hostel, we have been dedicated to providing supportive housing for men for nearly 130 years in Christchurch. Our unique approach offers "wrap-around" support for individuals who have had previous involvement with Corrections, Mental Health, and Addiction services. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and nurturing environment for our residents.
About the Role:
As a Support Worker, your role will be practical and essential to the smooth operation of our busy hostel, both day and night. You will engage in various responsibilities, including managing medications, assisting with food services, ensuring cleanliness, maintaining site safety, responding to inquiries, and supporting the men throughout your shift. We are seeking Casual staff to fill gaps primarily during afternoons, nights, and weekends, especially when regular staff are unwell or on leave. Our team does not utilize agency staff for this position, ensuring that you will always be in demand.
What Will Your Responsibilities Be:
- Administering medications
- Supporting meal provisions
- Maintaining cleanliness and site safety
- Assisting and supporting the men
- Responding to public inquiries
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold a Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or an approved equivalent)
- Have at least two years of prior experience in Housing, Corrections, Addiction, or Mental Health
- Be comfortable working in an all-male hostel (note that the majority of our staff are female)
- Be available for afternoon, night, and weekend shifts, which constitute the majority of our staffing needs
- Possess a full driver’s license

This role is casual, and hours will be assigned on an as-needed basis. The starting hourly rate for this position will be $29.60.
