Description
About the Company
At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are dedicated to creating a health system that serves all New Zealanders. Grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we are committed to addressing health inequities and improving outcomes for whanau Māori. We believe in the power of teamwork and the importance of every individual's contribution to achieving our goals.
About the Role
We invite you to join Te Manawa o Hine on our journey to create a better future and promote equity for whanau Māori. We are currently offering two exciting opportunities: one permanent position and one 12-month fixed-term role.
Our primary objective is to reduce inequities for Māori and eliminate barriers to accessing maternity services. The case-loading midwife will play a crucial role in supporting new graduates through a tuakana/teina model, which fosters professional development in midwifery practice and philosophy. In this role, you will provide continuity of care for whanau Māori residing in the Te Toka Tumai Auckland region.
About Our Team
Te Manawa o Hine operates as a whanau. Our midwifery service embraces Te Ao Māori and is committed to improving outcomes for our communities with a strong focus on equity. Aroha serves as the foundation of our work as we guide whanau through the significant moments leading up to the arrival of their pepi.
We are committed to supporting you by providing all the necessary resources, including a vehicle, IT equipment, clinic access, phone, and coverage for certification costs. This role involves a case-loading continuity of care model, where you will be part of an on-call roster, working four days on and four days off. You will manage a caseload of up to four families per month and will be available for these wahine, except during your scheduled time off.
About You
We are seeking a registered midwife who possesses the following qualifications:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and a willingness to work an on-call roster
- A genuine desire to work with whanau to eliminate barriers and biases that hinder their engagement with maternity services
- Relevant midwifery experience, with a passion for supporting new graduate midwives within a tuakana/teina framework
- Computer literacy, particularly with navigating the Regional Clinical Portal and Badgernet. While familiarity is ideal, training will be provided
- A commitment to embracing the kaupapa of Te Manawa o Hine and utilizing organizational policies to guide care plans
