About the Role
We are looking for resilient, energetic, and conscientious individuals to join our team as Support Workers. This role goes beyond simply performing tasks; it offers a unique opportunity to build strong, trust-based relationships with the people you support, helping them navigate health-related issues or disabilities. Support work is both challenging and rewarding, providing a chance to make a real difference in someone’s life.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with personal care such as showering and bathing
- Helping with household management and meal preparation
- Supporting exercise programs
- Facilitating community access
- Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care
- Assisting with mobility, including the use of hoists and manual transfers
- Offering medication support
The position is located in the Bay of Plenty region, specifically in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, and Papamoa. This is a part-time role with up to 29 hours of work per week. We offer a variety of employment opportunities, including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which we will discuss further during the recruitment process.
Due to the nature of community-based work, the days of work will involve rotating rosters, including morning, evening, and weekend shifts. We are open to discussing your preferred hours during the recruitment process, and the duration of these hours may vary based on the specific needs of the individuals we support.
Requirements
We are seeking individuals who are calm yet confident and can demonstrate resilience while understanding the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a support worker comes with responsibilities that can be both challenging and fulfilling. It is a rewarding experience to contribute to enabling individuals to thrive within their communities.
Candidates should meet the following prerequisites:
- Previous experience in healthcare is advantageous; however, those looking to enter the sector are also encouraged to apply, as comprehensive training can be provided.
- Access to a personal vehicle and a full driver’s license are essential due to the community-based nature of the role.
- Flexibility to travel and work on a rotating roster is required.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

We offer a competitive pay band ranging from $24.13 to $30.03 per hour, based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017, which assesses hourly pay rates according to healthcare qualifications. Additional benefits include:
