About the Role
We are seeking a confident, adaptable, and empathetic individual to join our team in a role that truly makes a difference. This position primarily involves providing support to clients impacted by brain injuries or long-term conditions. Your focus will be on fostering life skills, promoting independence, and facilitating community involvement.
While this role may be ideal for recent graduates from fields such as Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, or Nursing, we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds. A minimum of a Level 3 Health & Wellbeing certificate is required.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support clients in accessing local community services and activities while being a positive role model who offers guidance in a nurturing manner.
- Create and maintain a warm, respectful, and motivating environment for clients.
- Address behavioral challenges constructively and work collaboratively with the wider team to implement positive strategies.
- Engage with community providers such as WINZ, HNZ, CADS, Mental Health services, and other local organizations.
- Work independently within clients' homes and communities to help them build on their skills and independence.
What We Need from You
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Knowledge of traumatic brain injury, physical disabilities, and experience in mental health or addiction (Level 3-4 preferred).
- Experience in supporting clients with communication challenges is a plus.
- A full, clean driver's license and access to your own vehicle.
- A clean criminal record and a willingness to undergo police checks.
- Strong cultural competency, including an understanding of Māori perspectives and tikanga Māori.
- A caring, patient, and client-centered approach.
