About the Role We are seeking resilient, energetic, and conscientious individuals to join our team as Support Workers. Support work is a rewarding and empathetic journey that involves various responsibilities, including: - Assisting with personal care activities such as showering and bathing - Supporting household management and meal preparation - Facilitating exercise programs - Assisting individuals in accessing the community - Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care - Using hoists and performing manual transfers - Offering medication support Job Location: Leeston, Lincoln, Southbridge (Selwyn District) Employment Type: Part Time We offer a variety of employment opportunities, including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be further discussed during the recruitment process. As this is community-based work, you will be required to work on a rotating roster that includes morning, evening, and weekend shifts. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process, and the duration of these hours may vary based on the specific needs of those we support. Requirements We are looking for calm, confident individuals who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a support worker is both challenging and fulfilling, and it is incredibly rewarding to be part of someone’s journey towards living their best life in the community. Candidates should ideally possess the following qualifications: - Prior personal care experience is preferred - Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries or traumatic brain injury - A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial, though those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered, as comprehensive training can be provided - Access to a car and the ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is essential) - Flexibility to work on a rotating roster - Legal right to work in New Zealand Benefits We offer a competitive pay band ranging from $24.13 to $30.78 per hour, based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 and the equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity. Our employees enjoy flexible hours, a travel allowance according to In Between Travel (IBT) rules, and opportunities to gain Level 3 and Level 4 Qualifications in Health and Wellbeing with Careerforce NZ.
