About the Role We are looking for motivated and high-performing students to join our Process Engineering team at our Dunsandel site this summer, from November to January. As a Summer Student Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience while working closely with our production and quality teams to optimize dairy processing operations. You will focus on identifying and applying quantification methods for sample analysis, collecting and analyzing production samples, and investigating potential process improvements. Where feasible, you will support the evaluation of your recommendations on a production scale. What You’ll Be Working On In this role, you will assist in evaluating the implementation of process improvements on a production scale, depending on time and schedule considerations. Your responsibilities will include: - Identifying suitable quantification methods for sample analysis - Collecting samples for laboratory analysis and conducting investigations - Providing practical recommendations to enhance the production line This position is suitable for third or final year students pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Process Engineering, Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering. Requirements We are looking for students who: - Are curious about the dairy industry and Synlait’s operations - Have a strong eagerness to learn, demonstrating a proactive mindset - Possess an analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills - Are detail-oriented and capable of communicating findings clearly - Are motivated and prepared to learn in a fast-paced environment Please note that applicants outside of New Zealand will only be considered if they have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
