About the Role
We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team for deployment on major infrastructure and commercial projects throughout New Zealand. These positions are full-time and permanent, with site locations determined by project demands.
Pay for this role ranges from a minimum of $26.00 per hour to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, and we guarantee a minimum of 30 hours of work per week. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment and tools, creating an environment where you can thrive in your role.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Technician, you will undertake tasks that align with your skills and the needs of our business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Complying with all aspects of any contract, project, or task, while delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes, and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches using patching plaster and tools.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools.
- General labouring duties, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers.
- Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around construction sites.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Some experience in the construction industry is preferable, but not essential.
- A friendly demeanor, solid time management skills, and an excellent work ethic.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- A sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Skills in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry.
- Experience in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves.
- The ability to measure and cut materials with precision.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- The capacity to collaborate with other trades as required.
- Must be able to pass a criminal check and drug test.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this role is listed in Otago, we are recruiting for positions to be deployed across all regions of New Zealand based on project requirements. The regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
Applicants are welcome from any of these regions and must be willing to travel or relocate as needed. Relocation costs will be covered by the company.
