About the Role
We invite you to join our dynamic team as a Team Leader in Building Control. This role is essential in delivering an effective and efficient building control service for Central Otago. You will have the flexibility to be based in either Cromwell or Alexandra, allowing for a convenient work-life balance.
In this position, you will assist the Planning and Regulatory Services Manager in providing leadership and mentorship to the Building Control team. You will work closely with Building Control Officers to ensure a customer-focused service that facilitates proper building practices through a fast and cost-effective process.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A professional qualification in the building industry that meets Regulation 18 under the Building Consenting Authority Regulations.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the building control field, with competencies in Residential 1-3 and Commercial 1-2 processing and inspections.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and dispute resolution skills.
- Strong knowledge of the Building Act 2004, NZ Building Code, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
- Practical experience with computer systems.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and customer service.
- A valid New Zealand driver’s licence.
