About the Role
We are seeking a committed individual to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. In this hands-on role, you will be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the facility. Your responsibilities will include supervising swimmers, assisting with facility upkeep, supporting aquatic programs, and maintaining a positive pool environment. We value teamwork and a safety-first approach, and we are looking for someone who shares our dedication to these principles.
Key Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Supervise pool users and enforce rules to ensure safety
- Provide friendly and professional customer service
- Conduct daily water testing and assist with cleaning and general maintenance
- Support swim school programs, events, and school bookings
- Respond to incidents and provide first aid when needed
- Work collaboratively as part of the team and follow direction from senior staff
- Keep required certifications up to date and participate in ongoing training
Hours of Work
This position guarantees a minimum of 30 hours per week, with typical hours ranging from 35 to 40. Shifts will be rostered across seven days, including weekends, public holidays, and early or late starts.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following qualifications:
- Hold a current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC)
- Hold a current Comprehensive or Workplace First Aid Certificate (NZQA Units 6400, 6401, and 6402)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an aquatic or recreation environment
- A good level of physical fitness and confidence in the water
- Strong communication skills with a professional and friendly manner
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and follow established procedures
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
