About the Role
As a Senior Mobile Software Engineer specializing in Android, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our native mobile platforms. This role goes beyond coding; it involves enhancing the way New Zealanders interact with the things they love on their preferred devices.
In this position, you can expect to:
- Architect and develop top-tier native Android applications that provide a seamless and intuitive user experience.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within our team.
- Drive innovation by researching new technologies and implementing cutting-edge solutions for our mobile platforms.
- Ensure the quality of our applications through robust testing, automation, and adherence to best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to all stages of product development, from initial ideation and design to user testing and ongoing enhancements.
- Collaborate within a dynamic squad to define the technology roadmap, ensuring software quality, stability, and supportability.
- Lead initiatives within our Mobile Guild, sharing your expertise and continuously refining our approach to mobile development.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Senior-level experience in native mobile development, particularly with Android (Kotlin or Java), and a strong passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
- A proven track record of independently designing and delivering large features while contributing to architectural discussions and decisions.
- A natural ability to mentor others and a desire to help your colleagues develop their technical skills and confidence.
- A commitment to quality, with a keen eye for detail that guarantees our apps are fast, reliable, and enjoyable to use.
- A collaborative and adaptable mindset, with the ability to thrive in a self-directed, fast-paced Agile environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, consistently seeking innovative ways to enhance systems and processes.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a clear understanding of the elements necessary to deliver high-quality software with care and precision.
