About the Role As the Butchery/Seafood Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the complete operations of our department. This position goes beyond the typical expectations of a butchery job; you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of every cut while fostering the growth and development of our team members. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering exceptional value to our customers on a daily basis. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading and mentoring a team of butchers and assistants to provide outstanding service and product quality. - Managing department operations, including ordering, inventory management, merchandising, and stock control. - Achieving sales targets, gross profit, and wage goals for the department. - Ensuring 100% pricing accuracy and implementing promotional activities. - Driving innovation in product range, display, and layout to enhance customer appeal and sales. - Handling customer inquiries and resolving issues with professionalism. - Collaborating with other department heads and contributing to store-wide initiatives. - Acting as the primary liaison between the department, store leadership, and suppliers. - Upholding strict food safety and compliance standards. Requirements We are seeking a candidate who is not only skilled in butchery but also a leader with a clear vision and a track record of managing a high-performing department. To be successful in this role, you will need: - Experience in a senior or management-level butchery/seafood position. - A deep understanding of meat cuts, processing, compliance, and quality standards. - Proven leadership abilities and a commitment to developing team members. - Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills. - Familiarity with inventory systems such as SAP, stock control, and gross profit drivers. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. - A calm and positive demeanor in a fast-paced environment. Bonus qualifications include a trade qualification in Butchery, Food Safety Certification, or experience with SAP.
