Description
About the Company
At Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldier's Hospital, we are committed to providing high-quality health care and improving health outcomes for our community. As part of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we embrace the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring that our health system serves all New Zealanders effectively.
About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Anaesthetic Technicians to join our dynamic perioperative team at Hawke's Bay Hospital. We are open to tailoring a position that fits your unique skills and preferences.
In this role, you will work in our well-equipped 8-theatre operating suite, gaining hands-on experience across a diverse range of surgical specialties, including orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, ENT, vascular, and urology, among others. Additionally, our team supports procedures in our endoscopy and angiography suites, providing an excellent opportunity to broaden your clinical expertise.
What sets this role apart is the chance to operate at the top of your scope. Our Anaesthetic Technician team is the only one in New Zealand that is actively involved in both ICU (optional) and Flight Transfer Services. You will have the opportunity to participate in critical care transports, including fixed-wing and helicopter retrievals, working with some of the region's most vulnerable and critically ill patients.
We understand the importance of work-life balance. With two permanent night shift staff on the roster, night duties are rare, allowing you more time to enjoy your personal interests outside of work.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Perioperative Services team consists of dedicated health professionals who are passionate about delivering safe, high-quality patient care. We foster a positive team culture, encourage strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote continuous learning and development.
Hawke's Bay is not only a great place to work but also offers an excellent work-life balance. With beautiful beaches, outdoor adventures, great schools, and stunning wineries, you will find plenty of opportunities for relaxation and recreation. For more information on living and working in Hawke's Bay, we encourage you to explore our community.
About You

- Strong communication skills and excellent teamwork abilities
- A calm, focused, and confident demeanor in fast-paced acute care environments
- A desire to extend your practice into ICU (optional) and patient transfers
- A passion for providing exceptional care across diverse surgical specialties
Whether you are an experienced Technician or a new graduate ready to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
