About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to become a vital part of our fast-paced Wellington Service Department. This position is crucial to our business operations, and we are looking for someone with a proven background in the automotive franchise who is ready to take on new challenges and drive positive change.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the Quality Control processes
- Providing guidance to workshop technicians and apprentices
- Liaising with customers regarding technical concerns
- Ensuring adherence to the company safety policy within the workshop
- Performing routine service and repair work on both Toyota and other vehicles
- Maintaining in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control
- Conducting quality control inspections of the work performed by Automotive Technicians
- Effectively selling Technician hours while ensuring the productivity and efficiency of the workshop team
- Collaborating with the Parts department to ensure all necessary parts are available for repairs
- Coaching and mentoring Workshop staff to enhance their knowledge and performance
- Assisting the Parts & Service Manager with maintaining Warrant of Fitness (WOF) requirements
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience in the automotive industry with proven service, workshop, or technical knowledge
- Experience in coaching and mentoring team members, with a talent for identifying opportunities to enhance performance
- A blend of business acumen and personal motivation necessary to meet and exceed targets
- A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to implement and maintain effective systems and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in managing challenging customer concerns, resulting in positive outcomes for both the customer and the business
- An Automotive Service Technician (AVI) certification is essential
- A clean and current full driver's license
