About the Company Tradestaff Global is a leading provider in the construction industry, specializing in connecting skilled tradespeople with unique and rewarding work opportunities. We are currently seeking qualified and licensed electricians to join our team for an exciting project at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the Summer of 2025/26. About the Role We are looking for electricians with commercial experience to work on-site in one of the most remote and stunning locations in the world. Deployments are expected to take place from approximately October 2025 through to March 2026. This is an extraordinary opportunity for those who are prepared for the challenges of working in a harsh environment while gaining valuable experience and making lifelong connections. Roles will primarily involve commercial electrical work, including tasks up to medium voltage. Candidates with experience in fabricating metal conduit, data cabling, security systems, and fire alarms will be at an advantage. You should be comfortable reading electrical schematics, pulling wires, and performing various hands-on tasks. A current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence is required. Requirements We are looking for individuals who meet the following criteria: - Only New Zealand and US citizens with valid passports, currently residing and working in New Zealand, are eligible to apply. - Candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. - This is not a fly-in fly-out role; candidates should be prepared for long-term deployment. - You will be expected to work long hours, typically six days a week. - Start dates are subject to passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, fulfilling notice periods, and ice flight availability. - A pre-employment drug and alcohol test is mandatory. - A full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence and a clean criminal record are required. - Candidates should be prepared for a lengthy application process and be patient throughout. - Medical and dental exams will need to be conducted in Tauranga; we will cover testing and flight costs for those traveling from outside the Bay of Plenty. Benefits In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive compensation package, including: - Flights provided from any major New Zealand airport. - Food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance included. - A pay rate of $66.11 per hour, contracted on a basis of 54 hours per week, with payments made fortnightly in NZD. - All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. This role provides a unique chance to save money while working away, gain invaluable experience, and create lasting friendships. What Now?
