About the Company
Tradestaff Global is a leading provider of workforce solutions, specializing in connecting skilled professionals with exciting opportunities across various industries. We are currently seeking qualified and licensed electricians with commercial experience to join our team for a unique project at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the Summer of 2025/26.
About the Role
We are looking for dedicated electricians who are ready to embrace the challenges of working in one of the most remote and stunning locations in the world. The deployment period is expected to be approximately from October 2025 to March 2026. This role is ideal for those who thrive in a team-oriented environment and are willing to contribute to the collective success of the project.
As an electrician on this project, your primary responsibilities will involve commercial electrical work, including tasks up to medium voltage. Candidates with experience in fabricating metal conduit, data cabling, security systems, and fire alarms will have a distinct advantage. You should be comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, from reading electrical schematics to wiring.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must hold a current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence. Additionally, please outline any experience you have with the following in your CV:
- UPS battery systems and/or backup generator systems
- Telecoms
- Security system installation
- Switchgear and transformer wiring
- Fire alarms
Please note that due to travel restrictions, we can only accept applications from New Zealand and US citizens who currently and permanently reside and work in New Zealand.
Candidates must also be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. This position requires long hours, typically six days a week, and you will be on-site for an extended period, as these roles are not ‘fly in fly out’.
You will need to pass medical and dental checks, obtain security clearance, and meet other criteria, including a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. A Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence and a clean criminal record are also required. If you are located outside the Bay of Plenty, we will cover the costs associated with medical and dental examinations.
Benefits
In return for your hard work, we offer a competitive hourly rate of $66.11, paid on a contract basis, with payments made fortnightly in NZD for a 54-hour work week. We provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
Working in Antarctica offers a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience while building lasting friendships and saving money. If you have always wanted to include such an extraordinary experience on your resume, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
