About the Opportunity: Our Masterton branch is excited to welcome a talented individual to our service department in the role of Service Foreman. In this position, you will play a critical role in monitoring productivity within the workshop. Your responsibilities will include scheduling jobs for technicians, ensuring they have the necessary resources to work efficiently, quoting workshop repairs, and optimizing the use of workshop space to meet customer needs. You will work closely with the Service Manager to ensure seamless operations between field and workshop environments. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor apprentices, providing them with the guidance and support they need to advance their skills. You will be responsible for: - Assigning jobs and work areas to Service Department employees based on their skills and knowledge. - Assisting in the appraisal of incoming repair orders and participating in repairs as needed. - Directing and supporting technicians and apprentices in diagnosing machine problems. - Inspecting and repairing special tools, as well as recommending new tools when necessary. - Advising the Service Manager or Service Location Manager on customer complaints. - Coordinating and scheduling in-house technician training. - Assisting with the organization and execution of quarterly safety meetings alongside the Service Manager or Service Location Manager. - Filling in for the Service Manager or Service Location Manager in their absence. - Arranging and participating in the reconditioning of used equipment and the setup of new equipment. - Providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager or Service Location Manager. To be considered for this position, you will need the following: - A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Service Technician. - Strong leadership abilities. - Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products. - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for individual and group interactions. - Proficiency with standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions. - A High School Diploma or equivalent experience. - A forklift license is preferred.
