About the Role We are currently seeking a Finance Manager to join our Corporate Services team at BDO Wellington. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the General Manager and oversee all financial operations. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, managing monthly accounting, payroll, and both internal and external financial reporting. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with the Financial Accountant and handle KPI reporting, fixed asset reporting, and the collation of information for reporting to BDO National. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills who can effectively work within our Corporate Services team. Key Responsibilities - Oversee all financial operations, including monthly accounting, fortnightly payroll, internal and external financial reporting, KPI reporting, fixed asset reporting, and the collation of information for reporting to BDO National. - Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and reports. - Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation obligations, regulations, and internal policies. - Monitor and report on cashflow. - Oversee the accounts payable function, including creditor payments, staff expense claims, queries, and loading disbursements into the practice management system. - Manage internal reporting of the firm's revenue activities, including fees billed reporting, billing queries, and the credit control function. - Develop and implement robust financial processes to support the firm’s staff support and wellbeing initiatives. - Drive the annual budgeting process and collaborate with teams to ensure accurate financial forecasting. - Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement. - Manage the professional trust account, working with auditors to ensure compliance with professional standards. - Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the firm's assets. - Work with teams across the firm to ensure data integrity and that systems are maintained efficiently. About You We are looking for candidates who possess: - Strong attention to detail and accuracy, along with good problem-solving and decision-making abilities. - A solid understanding of financial principles and accounting standards. - Excellent organizational and leadership skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - An inquisitive mindset that seeks to understand the whole business picture, with a focus on research, problem-solving, and a drive for continuous improvement. - Familiarity with Xero and iPayroll would be advantageous. - A proactive, detail-oriented mindset focused on delivering results. - The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure. - A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. - Professional certification (CA or CPA) is preferred. - A valid right to work in New Zealand.
