About the Role
We are currently seeking a qualified perfusionist to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (0.83 FTE). Our perfusion team consists of six members with a total establishment of five FTE. The work hours are structured in a three-week cycle: two weeks of three ten-hour days and one week of four ten-hour days. On-call duties are shared equitably among team members. The salary for this position will be in accordance with the APEX Te Whatu Ora Clinical Perfusionists Collective Agreement (Pro Rata).
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Cardiothoracic Service provides tertiary level services to the Greater Wellington region, including Marlborough, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui, Palmerston North, and the Wairarapa. We conduct nearly 450 cardiac procedures annually, including on-pump CABGs, valve surgeries, and aortic artery repairs for dissections, aneurysms, arches, and elephant trunks. Recently, we introduced CardioHelp ECMO services, with strong support from our ICU team.
Our perfusion team is a cohesive and supportive group with stable staffing since 2017. Our theatre team, which includes surgeons, anesthetists, perfusionists, nurses, and anaesthetic technicians, emphasizes open communication, respect, and collaboration. About You
We welcome applicants with any level of perfusion experience. Candidates must possess board certification from one of the following organizations: the Australian and New Zealand College of Perfusionists (ANZCP.org), the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP.org), or The College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland (SCPS.org.uk).
