About the Role
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Charge Nurse in our Paediatric Cardiac Operating Rooms. In this permanent, full-time position, you will lead the management of clinical activities for the Paediatric Cardiac specialty within our Operating Rooms. Your role will involve providing dynamic transformational leadership as we enhance our paediatric cardiac services.
About the Team
Our Paediatric Operating Rooms at Starship Child Health facilitate acute emergency trauma and elective surgical procedures across various paediatric specialties, including General Surgery, Complex Neonatal Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Urology, Endoscopy, Oncology, ORL, Head and Neck Surgery, Dental Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Orthopaedics, Sarcoma, Plastics, and Cardiac Surgery, including paediatric cardiac transplants.
In this new role, you will manage the Paediatric Cardiac and Adult Congenital Theatres across two directorates. To ensure the smooth clinical efficiency of our services, exceptional multidisciplinary interpersonal skills are essential for the shared coordination of staffing resources across two Theatre Suites. This is a remarkable time of change with significant opportunities to deliver a mokopuna and whanau-centric paediatric cardiac service.
About You
We are looking for an ideal candidate who possesses the following qualifications and skills:
- Eligibility for registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council.
- A minimum of 3 years of Operating Room experience as a skilled Perioperative Nurse, with a strong foundation in theatre nursing. Expert knowledge and experience in cardiac surgery is preferred.
- Postgraduate qualification or a Master's degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead transformational change with dynamic leadership skills that can drive a strategic vision for the service.
- Capacity to provide senior clinical support, expertise, nursing knowledge, and leadership to ensure quality patient care.
- Well-developed communication and critical thinking skills, along with a commitment to mokopuna and whanau-centred care.
- Dedication to improving Māori health outcomes and embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Ability to create collaborative working partnerships across a multidisciplinary team.
- A strong commitment to delivering quality healthcare.
