About the Role
We are currently seeking a passionate individual to join our Child Health Service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to neonatal and paediatric medicine, supported by a strong team of consultants and multidisciplinary professionals. Our service focuses on general paediatrics while providing access to subspecialists in areas such as paediatric development, endocrine, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, neurology, and respiratory medicine.
Our campus features a tertiary-level neonatal intensive care unit, and we provide paediatric surgery as well as Haematology/Oncology services for the entire South Island. This role will not only enhance your medical expertise but also allow you to gather invaluable experience in a supportive environment.

- Christchurch Women’s Hospital
- Hillmorton Hospital and the Princess Margaret Hospital - Mental Health Services
- Burwood Hospital - Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation Services, including the Spinal Injuries Unit
- Ashburton Hospital - General Hospital, south of Christchurch
As part of our team, you will experience a diverse range of cases and receive high-quality medical education, training, and supervision. With 600 resident doctors employed in Canterbury, you will collaborate closely with professionals committed to serving our community.
In this role, you will gain experience across both inpatient and outpatient settings in general and subspecialty paediatrics, children's haematology and oncology, as well as neonatal medicine. Additionally, you can enjoy living in a vibrant city with access to hills, beaches, and ski fields just a short drive from Christchurch.
About You
We are looking for candidates who have at least six months of experience in Paediatrics at the House Officer or Registrar level. A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to health practices is essential. We value individuals who demonstrate a commitment to developing an equity lens and skillset to assist Māori and minority groups.
Candidates must be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility by visiting the Council's website.
