About the Role
We are hiring Construction Technicians for deployment on various infrastructure and commercial construction projects throughout New Zealand. These positions are full-time and permanent, with site locations determined by project demand. We offer a competitive salary ranging from a minimum of $26.00 per hour to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. We also provide necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Technician, your tasks will include the following:
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches using appropriate tools.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms.
- Performing general labor tasks such as cleaning construction sites as required by managers.
- Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Collaborating with other trades and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following:
- Some experience in the construction industry is preferred, but not essential.
- A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic.
- A commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry.
- A solid understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a hardworking attitude.
- Skills in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry.
- Experience in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves.
- The ability to measure and cut materials with precision.
- The capability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- A willingness to collaborate with other trades as needed.
- The ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

While this role is listed in Gisborne, we have openings across all regions of New Zealand, including:
- North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
- South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
We invite applicants from any of these regions, and candidates must be willing to travel or relocate as necessary. Relocation costs will be covered by our company.
