About the Role
We are seeking Rheumatology Registrars for the 2026 training year in Auckland, Waitemata, and Counties Manukau. As a Rheumatology Advanced Trainee, you will specialize in the diagnosis and comprehensive management of conditions affecting joints, muscles, and bones. Our Rheumatologists play a crucial role in advancing knowledge in the field and are often involved in a variety of research initiatives.
The Medicine Registrar runs in the Auckland region last for six months, after which you may rotate into different roles. Detailed descriptions of the 2025 training year runs can be found on the Auckland Doctors website.
About the Team/Service/Location
Auckland is consistently recognized as one of the most livable cities in the world, boasting stunning natural landscapes, a rich cultural mix, and exceptional entertainment options. By joining our team in the Auckland region, you will work alongside dedicated and experienced senior clinicians who will provide you with top-tier supervision and mentorship. For more information on living and working in Auckland, please visit our resources.
About You
To qualify for the Advanced Training in Rheumatology, you must be a current Advanced Trainee in Rheumatology, either within or outside the Auckland region. You should have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit the clinical exam in 2025. The positions will only be offered to those who have successfully completed the clinical exam and basic training. If you do not pass the exam, you will no longer be eligible for an advanced training position but may be considered for a run allocation.
You must also be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, and we will provide support and assistance in this process. We welcome applications from those interested in six-month allocations for Rheumatology experience as part of their training in General Medicine or specialty training.
If you are currently a Rheumatology Advanced Trainee or employee in the Auckland region, you do not need to apply via this listing. We encourage you to engage in independent meetings with your specialty. However, if you are a current RMO employee seeking a six-month allocation or applying for advanced training in Rheumatology, you must formally submit an application.
