About the Role
We are excited to announce an opening for a full-time Forensic Pathology Registrar in the Department of Forensic Pathology, Northern Forensic Pathology Service, located in Palmerston North, New Zealand. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with passionate and knowledgeable senior clinicians while working in conjunction with the Auckland forensic pathology service to provide comprehensive medical laboratory services to the broader Manawatu region. The start date for this role is negotiable.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Department of Forensic Pathology is part of the Northern Forensic Pathology Service, which collaborates closely with the Auckland forensic pathology service. This position entails working under the supervision of forensic pathologists, contributing to the local forensic pathology service. The registrar will be based at the Department of Forensic Pathology in Palmerston North and will also have the responsibility of teaching medical students and other allied professionals. About You
We are looking for candidates who exhibit a strong interest in and commitment to forensic pathology. Ideal applicants will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to perform well under pressure, and a solid foundation of medical knowledge and diagnostic acumen. Teamwork is essential, and the successful candidate must have passed the RCPA Basic Science examination and completed a minimum of 18 months of training in anatomical pathology.
Candidates must hold a medical qualification recognized by the New Zealand Medical Council, allowing for general medical registration. Additionally, you should have at least two years of experience as a House Officer in New Zealand or a comparable health system. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel are also required.
