About the Role
We are currently seeking Pashto-speaking Support Workers to join our Whanau Support Services team in Christchurch. This role involves providing support to individuals in their homes and communities, helping them lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. You will engage with clients to assist them in pursuing their personal dreams and goals, whether that includes activities like swimming, attending sporting events, arts and crafts, going to the movies, or shopping. The opportunities to enrich their lives are numerous.
This position currently offers four hours of work per week, primarily in the afternoon and evening, with the potential for increased hours over time.
Requirements
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping others and possess the following qualifications:
- A strong understanding of intellectual disabilities.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, particularly with youth.
- A full driver's license and access to your own vehicle are essential.
- A desire to empower individuals to learn new skills and achieve their goals.
- Initiative, energy, and an outgoing personality, with the ability to think creatively.
- Respect for diverse perspectives and lifestyles, as our clients come from various backgrounds with unique needs and interests.
- Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness are vital in this role.
