About the Role
We are excited to announce an opening for an experienced and motivated Management Accountant to join our finance team in Christchurch. This role is integral to our contracting business units and will involve collaboration with the wider finance team.
As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly accounts for several business units and assisting with various financial tasks. Additionally, there is an opportunity for business partnering, which includes cost assessments to support tendering processes, business cases, and the implementation of process improvements.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including month-end calculations and journals.
- Lead monthly forecasting meetings and conduct profit and loss reviews.
- Analyze financial information to support tender submissions and identify business improvement opportunities.
- Assist in preparing monthly claims for submission to customers.
- Prepare ad hoc and analytical reports as needed, including reconciliations, investigations, and comparative reporting.
- Train and support assigned business unit managers on financial matters.
- Contribute to the development of carbon and sustainable reporting for the local business.
- Play an active role in preparing annual budgets.
- Support external and internal audit processes.
- Assist with the training and supervision of junior team members.
- Perform any other administrative duties as required.

Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards such a qualification
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a management accountant
- Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
- High proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Self-motivation and the capability to work independently to complete assigned tasks

- Previous experience in construction and maintenance programs is advantageous but not essential
