About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity. In this role, you will play a vital part in crafting meaningful experiences for our millions of customers. You will have the opportunity to work across the entire technology stack, take ownership of technical outcomes, and drive innovation within a platform that is integral to daily life in New Zealand.
As a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer, you can expect to:
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
- Identify and address challenges within our processes and practices.
- Explore opportunities to implement new and innovative technologies to solve current business problems.
- Design, estimate, and plan the work required by your squad.
- Write code and unit tests to achieve your squad's objectives.
- Assume technical ownership and accountability for projects within your squad.
- Conduct peer reviews of code developed by other team members.
- Build, test, release, and monitor the code you deploy to the production environment.
- Document your work to ensure maintainability and facilitate further development.
- Participate in discussions and initiatives aimed at improving the Trade Me codebase and technical design.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
- Senior-level experience in fullstack development, with strong proficiency in C# (.NET) and front-end technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and/or Angular.
- A deep understanding of relational databases and SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server), along with excellent knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and SOLID principles.
- A proven track record of technical ownership and accountability for significant projects.
- A natural ability to mentor others, coupled with a genuine desire to support your teammates' growth and success.
- A highly organized, self-directed approach, along with a proactive mindset to tackle challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing elegant, testable code that endures.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, allowing you to serve as a trusted advisor to your squad and stakeholders.
