Description
About the Company
Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, is responsible for the effective operation of our health system across the country. Our organization integrates the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of health services. We proudly serve nearly 600,000 residents in the Canterbury region and are dedicated to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi by prioritizing our partnership with Māori in our communications and actions.
About the Team
The Canterbury Regional Cancer and Haematology Service (CRCHS) offers radiation services to a regional population of approximately 600,000. Our team includes 10 radiation oncologists, 10 medical oncologists, six haematologists, and four palliative care physicians, all working collaboratively with a highly skilled group of radiation therapists, nurses, and specialists from various medical disciplines.
CRCHS is accredited by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists for radiation oncology training. We provide eight accredited radiation oncology registrar training positions, as well as training opportunities in medical oncology, haematology, and palliative care. Our department is equipped with four linear accelerators featuring six-degree of freedom couches, a wide-bore CT simulator, the Monaco treatment planning system, the Mosaiq information management system, Flexitron, HDR Brachytherapy, and ABC deep inspiratory breath hold units. We are pioneers in New Zealand for stereotactic lung radiation therapy and have expanded our program to include CNS and spinal metastases. Our HDR brachytherapy program effectively treats gynaecological and prostate malignancies.
About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant Radiation Oncologist to join our innovative team in a permanent position, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible. CRCHS maintains strong ties with the University of Otago's Christchurch School of Medicine, actively participating in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Additionally, we engage in Australasian and international cooperative group clinical trials, supported by an experienced clinical research team.
Living in Christchurch
Christchurch, known as Ōtautahi, is an excellent place for families, offering a short commute to work, beautiful surroundings, and a multitude of recreational activities. Our vibrant cultural scene includes diverse dining options, theatre, music, and other entertainment. The city boasts outstanding schooling and university facilities.
