About the Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Breast Radiologist to join our Radiology Department at Waikato Hospital. Our Breast Care Centre offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and screening assessment clinics, supported by a dedicated team that includes Medical Imaging Technologists, breast surgeons, breast nurses, and clerical staff. We hold weekly multidisciplinary meetings to discuss patient management, and our services also include two mobile units that deliver breast screening across the Waikato and Midlands regions.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Reporting on breast imaging studies as well as complex clinical cases in general radiology and acute imaging
- Interpreting and reporting on CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and MRI studies
- Participating in oncology multidisciplinary meetings
- Supervising and teaching registrars
- Contributing to the ongoing development of clinical standards and service quality

Waikato Hospital is a tertiary training hospital and a Level 1 Trauma Centre serving one of the busiest regions in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our Radiology Department conducts over 200,000 examinations annually, with a strong emphasis on Emergency, Trauma, and Oncology imaging.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in breast reporting
- Experience in performing breast biopsies and localization procedures using X-ray and ultrasound guidance
- Accreditation with Breastscreen Aotearoa or a willingness to obtain it with our support
- A subspecialty fellowship or a keen interest in breast imaging
- Eligibility for registration in the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Scope of Practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand
