About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Effectiveness Advisor to join Te Toka Tumai Auckland, a pivotal position within our Quality, Safety and Risk (QSR) team. In this full-time role, based at Auckland City Hospital, you will work collaboratively with clinical leaders to identify and assess risks, learn from everyday practices and adverse events, and drive continuous improvements in care processes and outcomes. Your expertise in healthcare quality, patient safety, and systems thinking will be crucial in making a meaningful impact on patient care and outcomes for whanau.

About You
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our clinical directorates. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and facilitating reviews of adverse events and near misses to enhance safety and understand risks.
- Assisting services in identifying trends, addressing clinical risks, and implementing quality improvements.
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Collaborating with clinicians, patients' families, and quality teams to ensure safer, more effective care.
- Applying principles of just culture and systems thinking to support open and meaningful reviews.
This position is relationship-focused and hands-on, allowing you to influence our responses to challenges, both large and small.
We are looking for candidates with:
- A tertiary qualification in a health profession and a minimum of three years of healthcare experience.
- A strong background in patient safety, clinical quality, or risk management.
- Experience in leading or supporting adverse event reviews and facilitating multidisciplinary discussions.
- A commitment to equity and improving outcomes for Maori health, consistent with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Strong critical thinking, empathy, communication skills, and a proactive, collaborative approach.
Desirable qualifications include postgraduate studies in health quality or safety, as well as knowledge of human factors, safety science, or healthcare systems improvement.
