About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team at Dunedin Hospital. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper preparation and coordination of both acute and elective patients entering the theatre.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading efforts to promote excellence in clinical practice.
- Providing high-quality nursing care for both acute and elective surgical patients.
- Collaborating closely with specialty nurse leaders, theatre coordinators, charge nurse managers, and duty coordinators.
- Managing the demand on bed flow for acute and elective cases to enhance patient experience and minimize resource wastage, such as late cancellations.
- Offering specialist nursing care and expertise, both in direct patient care and staff mentoring.
- Diversifying your role across the perioperative team, serving as a clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, and leader/change agent.
- Pursuing clinical excellence and improved health outcomes.
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Advanced communication skills, including conflict resolution, diffusion, and mediation techniques.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proven advanced knowledge and skills in perioperative nursing.
- A postgraduate qualification (minimum diploma, ideally a master's degree) or progress towards one.

Salary Range
This position falls under the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA. The salary will align with the designated senior nurse pay scale, Grade 1, ranging between $114,025 and $121,444 per annum, depending on relevant experience.
