About the Role
As a casual Health Care Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting our nursing and midwifery teams to deliver high-quality care to patients in various clinical environments. This dynamic and engaging position includes providing delegated patient care, assisting with meal delivery and housekeeping tasks, and interacting with patients who may require closer observation and support.
To succeed in this role, professionalism, compassion, and a genuine desire to improve the well-being of others are crucial. Please note that as a casual employee, you will only be offered work when it is available. The salary for this position ranges from MECA Health Care Assistants Step 1-5, pro rata.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) operates 24/7, delivering comprehensive clinical and operational services that prioritize patient safety, optimize resource allocation, and enhance hospital management. The IOC includes critical services such as Transit Nursing, Allocation and Casual Nursing, the Transit Hub, Variance Response Nursing, the Duty Nurse Manager team, and the National Travel Assistance service.
About You
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and health equity. Candidates must have completed Health and Wellbeing Level 3 or an equivalent qualification, or be willing to complete it within the first year of employment. Nursing and medical students are also encouraged to apply.
Ideal candidates will possess previous experience in a healthcare setting, exhibit a friendly, caring, and empathetic demeanor, and have excellent communication skills. The ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies is essential. Additionally, ongoing shift availability and flexibility are required.
