We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to join our Checkout team as a permanent full-time Checkout 3IC.
About the Role
As a Checkout 3IC, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our Checkout operations during designated periods. This includes working closely with other senior team members and participating in hands-on tasks alongside our Checkout team. Your responsibilities will encompass managing Checkouts, Self-Service, Lotto, Coffee, and the Customer Service desk.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating effective communication skills and the ability to adapt to varying circumstances. Previous experience in checkout operations, staff training, and customer service will be beneficial. Additionally, holding a Licensed Controller Qualification (LCQ) or the willingness to obtain one is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering excellent customer service and supervising the team.
- Communicating directives from the department manager effectively.
- Opening and closing checkouts (7:30 am to 9:00 pm).
- Performing regular checkout duties such as till operation, bag packing, monitoring self-service checkouts, Lotto sales, and coffee preparation.
- Supervising the sale of restricted items, including alcohol and tobacco.
- Managing daily team rosters, including arranging cover, organizing breaks, and ensuring all tasks are completed.
- Training staff in checkout operations, packing, Lotto, and coffee making.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Strong communication skills at all levels.
- The ability to lead and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Competence in multitasking and completing tasks within required timeframes.
- A positive work ethic and attitude.
- Capability to train staff effectively.
The work schedule will consist of five permanent shifts per week on a Tuesday to Saturday roster. While the hours will vary throughout the week, they will include early morning and late evening shifts. Flexibility to cover additional hours as needed for training, illness, and leave is important.
