About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Specialist to join our Stem Cell Transplant team at Christchurch Hospital. This role presents a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of haematological care, delivering complex and impactful treatments to patients across Te Waipounamu (the South Island).
As a Medical Specialist in the Stem Cell Transplant team, you will provide high-level clinical care to patients undergoing both autologous and allogeneic transplants. Your responsibilities will encompass patient assessment, multidisciplinary care planning, post-transplant follow-up, and active participation in research and quality improvement initiatives.
In this role, you will play an integral part in delivering a highly specialized service that changes lives and makes a significant impact. The position offers a balanced mix of hands-on patient care, academic involvement, and opportunities for service development.
About the Team / Service / Location
Our Haematology Service, based in Christchurch, is a regional center for stem cell transplant and advanced haematological care. You will collaborate with a passionate and experienced team of haematologists, transplant coordinators, nurses, and support staff.

About You
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in haematology and a commitment to delivering equitable, patient-centered care. You should thrive in a collaborative environment and demonstrate curiosity, compassion, and clinical excellence in your work.
To qualify for this role, you will need the following:
- Vocational registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Internal Medicine - Haematology
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent qualification
- Experience in stem cell transplantation (autologous and/or allogeneic)
