About the Role
We are currently seeking an Emergency Medicine Specialist for a permanent, part-time position (0.6 FTE) in our dynamic tertiary Emergency Department. In this role, you will provide clinical care to a diverse range of patients, including both pediatric and adult populations, across various levels of acuity.
You will work within a 7-day roster and participate in our on-call schedule. Additionally, you will supervise and mentor junior medical staff, fostering their development while ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow through the department in collaboration with senior nursing staff. This position reports directly to the Clinical Director of the Emergency Department.
About the Team / Service / Location
Our Emergency Department is situated in the Waipapa building at Christchurch Hospital and is part of our tertiary-level health service. We are proud to be one of Australasia’s busiest emergency departments, managing over 130,000 patients annually. Our facility is accredited for advanced training in Emergency Medicine by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, providing a fast-paced and supportive clinical environment.

About You
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or an equivalent qualification
- Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (please visit mcnz.org.nz for more information)
- Experience in emergency care for both adults and children
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical setting
