About the Role We are seeking a Drainage Foreman to lead and manage a team of 4-6 skilled drainage operators on large and complex drainage projects in the Auckland region. This hands-on, client-facing position requires strong planning, leadership, and construction expertise to ensure that our projects run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. In this role, you will be involved in every aspect of project execution, from developing work plans to managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and stepping in to assist with hands-on tasks when necessary. What You Will Do - Lead and manage a team of drainage operators, ensuring that all work is completed safely and efficiently. - Develop comprehensive work plans and methodologies to keep projects on track. - Drive productivity on site by organizing materials, equipment, and resources. - Liaise with subcontractors to maintain smooth operations. - Establish and implement health and safety processes to ensure site safety. - Plan and schedule daily tasks to meet project goals and deadlines. - Be hands-on when required, which may include operating machinery or providing direct support to your team. While the primary location for this role is Auckland, travel to other project sites across the country may be necessary. Requirements - Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug test. - Current and valid rights to work in New Zealand. - At least 5 years of experience in civil construction, with a strong emphasis on drainage work. - In-depth knowledge of stormwater, water reticulation, and wastewater systems. - Experience with bypass pumping, dewatering, and trench shoring techniques. - Understanding of drainage specifications and industry best practices. - Strong communication skills, both oral and written. - Proven experience in leading teams and managing personnel effectively. - Solid knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. - A clean Class 1 driver's license, WTR endorsement, and experience operating machinery. - A positive attitude and a sense of humor to fit in with the team. Candidates with a Class B Approved Asbestos Removal Supervisor qualification are encouraged to apply, as this would be a valuable asset.
