About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Administrator to join our Alcohol and Other Drug Team at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth. This permanent position entails working 0.88 FTE, which is equivalent to 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday.
As the first point of contact for individuals seeking assistance with addiction issues, it is crucial that our new team member possesses a genuine warmth, patience, and resilience. You will be responsible for welcoming clients and their whanau, providing a comforting presence during what may be a challenging time.
Your duties will include managing booking and clerking functions, administering electronic referrals, performing medical typing, taking minutes, and handling purchasing and ordering for the team, among other administrative tasks.

About You
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Strong customer service abilities and excellent communication skills, particularly under pressure, along with the flexibility to manage challenging situations professionally.
- Proficient medical typing skills with the ability to produce clinical letters and meeting minutes accurately and promptly.
- Competency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience navigating IT-based systems, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Significant general office skills and experience.
- A solid understanding of equity principles, a commitment to bi-culturalism, and practical knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.
