About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to become a valued member of our kitchen team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard while ensuring that all food safety and hygiene requirements are strictly adhered to.
This is a permanent, full-time position with guaranteed hours ranging from 30 to 35 hours per week. Our business hours are from Monday to Sunday, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As our Cook, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting café-style breakfast and brunch dishes according to our menu and established recipes.
- Preparing ingredients before service, including washing, chopping, portioning, and assembling food items.
- Ensuring consistency in food quality, portion sizes, and presentation throughout service.
- Working efficiently during busy service periods, particularly during breakfast and brunch hours.
- Storing food items appropriately and maintaining correct temperature control to minimize spoilage.
- Monitoring stock levels, rotating stock, and reporting any shortages as necessary.
- Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
- Cleaning and sanitizing food preparation and storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.
- Complying with all food health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborating with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members.
- Assisting in resolving any customer order issues related to food preparation as needed.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook or in another kitchen role within a commercial setting (café or restaurant).
- Experience in preparing breakfast and brunch dishes is preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Competence in following recipes and workplace procedures accurately.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Availability to work on weekends and public holidays as required.
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- A reliable and punctual nature, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
