About the Role
We are currently seeking a Level 2, 3, or 4 NZQA-qualified Health and Wellbeing Support Worker to assist a client living with Multiple Sclerosis in Lower Hutt. This role requires a high level of complex support, and we are looking for a compassionate, articulate, and empathetic individual who understands the intricacies of challenging behaviors. Your thoughtful and patient support will be particularly vital on difficult days.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of and experience with challenging behaviors.
- Be familiar with the use of hoists and assistive devices.
- Work effectively with clients who utilize power wheelchairs.
- Collaborate within a care team to provide the best support possible.
- Be available for morning, late afternoon, and evening shifts.
- Provide comprehensive personal care, including showering and managing prolonged bowel stimulation.
- Prepare meals and assist with shopping and pharmacy pick-ups.
- Follow directions accurately and complete tasks as instructed.
Note: Our existing care team will provide full training and a thorough introduction to ensure a smooth transition into the role and ongoing support.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Consistent and long-term availability, as we prioritize continuity for our clients.
- A current, clean full driver's license.
- The legal right to work in New Zealand.
- A Level 2, 3, or 4 health qualification (applications without a health qualification may not be considered).
- Previous experience as a caregiver or support worker with similar clients.
- A reliable, punctual, honest, and caring disposition.
