About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Pest Control Technician to join our team in Hamilton. This hands-on position places you at the forefront of pest management, where you will solve customer problems with expert advice and proactive service. You will manage a diverse portfolio of clients throughout the Hamilton region.
This full-time role operates from Tuesday to Saturday, with working hours from 12 PM to 8:30 PM. If you are comfortable with late hours and weekend work, we encourage you to apply.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A full New Zealand driver’s license with a clean driving record
- A clean criminal record
- A genuine love for the outdoors and local environments
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain and nurture client relationships
- A safety-first mindset with the ability to adhere to strict health and safety procedures
- Confidence in using a mobile phone and related applications
- Ability to work independently in the field while also embracing a team-oriented approach
- Willingness to travel long distances and potentially stay overnight when required
- Physical strength and the ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions
While not essential, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Previous knowledge of pest control methods and regulations
- New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations - Urban Pest Control
- Working at Heights and EWP licenses and experience
- Current NZ Firearm License
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle
Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment assessment, including medical, reference, and criminal background checks that meet Rentokil Initial's satisfactory criteria.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Efficiently maintaining, loading, and unloading your service vehicle each day to ensure preparedness for scheduled assignments
- Conducting thorough inspections at commercial and residential sites to identify signs of pest activity and developing appropriate treatment plans
- Applying effective pest control solutions and offering expert advice to customers on prevention and ongoing management
- Identifying hygiene risks and environmental concerns to create safer, healthier spaces for clients and their teams
- Completing digital service reports after each visit to document work carried out and recommendations made
- Delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor in all interactions
- Staying attentive to customer needs and seeking opportunities to recommend additional services that enhance value and improve outcomes
- Attending weekly team meetings to connect and plan for the week ahead
