About the Company
Tradestaff Global is a leading provider of workforce solutions, specializing in connecting skilled workers with exciting opportunities across the construction industry. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and experienced Telehandler and Skid-Steer Operators for a unique assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the Summer season of 2025/26.
About the Role
This is an extraordinary opportunity to work in one of the most remote and breathtaking locations on Earth. Deployments are anticipated from approximately October 2025 through to March 2026.
The roles require dedicated and hardworking team players who are ready to commit to several months of work in challenging conditions. Your responsibilities will include operating various types of plant machinery such as Bobcats, Telehandlers, and Utes. Additionally, you will assist the Logistics Supervisor in managing daily operations related to the construction project, which involves delivering parts and materials.
To be considered for this position, you must hold a Class 2 Driver License with WTR Endorsements.
Requirements
Please note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens who currently and permanently reside and work in New Zealand are eligible to apply.
Candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. The roles are not 'fly in, fly out'; instead, you will be stationed on the ice for extended periods, working long hours six days a week.
Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, adhering to your notice period, and the availability of ice flights.
Other requirements include:
- Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Maintaining a clean criminal record.
- Being prepared for a lengthy application process, demonstrating patience and attention to detail.
- Traveling to Tauranga for medical and dental examinations; we will cover testing costs and flights for candidates coming from outside the Bay of Plenty.
Benefits
We offer an attractive compensation package, including:
- Competitive pay at $66.11 per hour, contracted and paid fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for a standard 54-hour work week.
- Flights from any major New Zealand airport.
- Food and shared accommodation provided.
- Comprehensive travel insurance and all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
While the work is demanding, the rewards include substantial earnings, the opportunity to save money while working in a unique location, invaluable experience, and the chance to build lasting friendships.
