About the Role We are currently seeking an Electrical Trade Assistant to join our team. This position is vital in supporting skilled electricians on a range of projects throughout the Christchurch area and beyond. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to advance their careers in the electrical trade. We welcome applicants with international qualifications and experience, provided they meet the necessary work eligibility requirements. We are looking for candidates ranging from electrical apprentices to fully qualified electricians for diverse residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Requirements To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria: - A minimum of 12 months of site experience assisting trades and using hand and power tools. - Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial mechanical/electrical fields is preferred. - A keen interest in pursuing a career in the electrical field. - Comfort with working at heights and scaffolding, or possess a current Elevated Work Platform (EWP) license. - Overseas qualifications, if applicable. - Own tools are required. - A strong awareness of health and safety protocols. - A positive attitude and strong work ethic. - A Class 1 Driver’s License and reliable transportation. - Physical fitness is necessary for the role. - A valid Site Safe certificate (we can assist with obtaining this). - Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. - All applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. What You Will Be Doing In your role as an Electrical Trade Assistant, you will be responsible for: - Assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical networks, systems, circuits, equipment, components, appliances, and facilities for industrial, commercial, and domestic purposes. - Measuring and laying out installation reference points. - Selecting, cutting, and connecting wire and cable to terminals and connectors. - Repairing or replacing faulty wiring and defective parts. - Positioning and installing electrical switchboards and connecting electrical systems to the power supply. - Testing the continuity of circuits. - Installing, testing, and adjusting electric and mechanical parts. - Using and maintaining hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and drills.
