About the Company
Hapori Ora is a dedicated service within Odyssey House, an organization that has been assisting individuals in Canterbury with alcohol and other drug issues for over 35 years. Our mission is to support consumers in accessing the services they need to foster recovery and well-being. We operate an intensive community-based program that provides a holistic approach to addressing alcohol and drug use, incorporating both clinical and non-clinical methods. Our program includes day and evening groups, along with family and peer support.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Peer Support Worker to join our Hapori Ora team. This part-time position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week and involves working closely with clients who are navigating their recovery journey. As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide invaluable peer perspective within the program, assisting clients at the entry point of the mental health and addiction sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Offering peer insights and support to clients participating in the Hapori Ora program
- Conducting initial assessments and providing introductions to the program
- Co-facilitating group sessions alongside clinical staff
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Personal lived experience with alcohol and/or other drugs, with a minimum of two years clean and sober
- Demonstrated work stability to manage a busy workload effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient administration and computer skills
- A Level 4 qualification in health or addiction, or a willingness to pursue this qualification
- Availability to work 20 hours per week, including one evening and occasional Saturday online group sessions
