About the Role We are currently seeking qualified Servicepersons at Levels 3 and 4, particularly those with experience in Civil or Water services. This role is permanent and based in Porirua, Wellington, and Lower Hutt. It is important to note that our Serviceperson position does not involve drain laying. Instead, our teams play a vital role in ensuring a continuous supply of quality water while minimizing disruptions to the community and maintaining our drainage networks. You will be part of the Drainage, Water, or Roading Department within our reinstatement team, where each day brings new challenges as you travel across Wellington and South Wairarapa to perform both planned and reactive tasks. In this role, you will: - Install and repair water and drainage connections on mains of all sizes - Handle a variety of jobs, from routine maintenance to complex repairs - Flush and charge water mains to ensure optimal flow - Maintain a free-flowing wastewater and stormwater network by repairing infrastructure and addressing blockages - Construct and adjust manholes and pipelines, and assist with reinstating roads, footpaths, and berms, including concreting and general labor - Collaborate with various teams and contractors to achieve positive outcomes For more information about our water, drainage, and reinstatement teams, as well as our qualification pathways, please visit our website. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes: - A reliable, hardworking, and proactive attitude - Proficiency in using technology, such as an iPad or tablet, for recording information - A strong understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety - A full and clean Class 1 NZ driver's license is essential; a Class 2 license is advantageous - Enjoyment of outdoor work and the ability to perform manual labor tasks - Flexibility to work on an on-call roster, including shift work and standby duties Benefits In this position, you can expect a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $105,000, which includes overtime and on-call allowances, depending on your level of qualification.
