About the Role
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Fellow in Colorectal Surgery at Christchurch Hospital. As part of our Department of General Surgery, you will join a highly skilled and supportive surgical team dedicated to providing outstanding care in one of New Zealand's busiest tertiary hospitals.
This 12-month Fellowship, commencing in October 2026, will provide you with extensive hands-on experience in a variety of colorectal procedures, including major resections, minimally invasive surgeries, day case and 24-hour proctology, as well as complex pelvic surgeries that require collaboration with multiple teams. In addition, you will participate in the acute general surgery roster on a rotational and on-call basis. This Fellowship is designed to enhance your clinical and operative skills while preparing you for a career as a consultant.
About the Team
The Department of General Surgery at Christchurch Hospital consists of 26 Specialist Surgeons, 22 Registrars, and 12 House Officers, all supported by a dedicated nursing and administrative team. We provide comprehensive surgical care to Canterbury and its surrounding regions, and we are well-regarded for our commitment to teaching, research, and innovation in the surgical field.
About You
The ideal candidate for this Fellowship will possess:
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Broad experience in general surgery, with a focus on colorectal surgery
